The Annual Bash 2023 has come and gone, and what a crazy event it was!

For the fourth year running, Xscapers from all over the country, and even a few from around the world, descended on the SARA Park Rodeo Grounds in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, for another epic Bash!

The first Saturday was arrival day. Over 500 people, which included 317 RVs, vans, truck campers and schoolies, filed into the grounds in preparation for a jam-packed week of activities and entertainment. Even though the evening hours brought some rain, it didn’t stop our group of Xscapers from enjoying a great kickoff party. Dressed in their hula-billy best, the attendees danced the night away to the rocking sounds of The Crown City Bombers, a rock-a-billy band out of Los Angeles.

Sunday morning brought dryer weather and the return of a Bash classic, the Bloody-Mary bar. This year, we also added a mimosa bar to the mix! While attendees enjoyed their catered breakfast burritos and well-garnished beverages, they were treated to the soothing sounds of Xscapers own Larry K as he played for the crowd. In the afternoon, folks gathered under the tent for the Xscapers Marketplace. This event gave attendees the opportunity to browse and purchase handmade crafts, services and other goods offered by their fellow attendees. On Sunday night, Bashers headed off to their respective parking sections for a good old-fashioned block party. These block parties allowed Xscapers to meet their neighbors and spend time with other members parked in their sections.

Monday morning came with more rain but, by the early evening, the skies cleared in time for an Xscapers favorite: Lot Crawl! This ever-popular event had attendees moving between parking sections, sampling snacks and beverages, touring rigs and chatting with their fellow members. Xscapers brought their A-game this year and many went all out with their offerings, making the Lot Crawl, once again, one of the most popular events of the week.

Tuesday was 90’s Night and the return of a Bash staple, the Margarita Throwdown. After a day of educational and informative seminars, Xscapers began strolling into center camp wearing their 90s garb, ready to sample the many offerings of their fellow attendees who were competing for the title of best margarita! As they enjoyed their samples and debated on their favorite drink, they got to enjoy the awesome sounds of The Border Hookups, another great musical duo plucked right from the Xscapers own member list. Later in the evening, 90’s Rockshow, a cover band out of southern California, rocked our socks off with a show many are still talking about. This group relived the grunge decade while keeping the dance floor packed all night long.

The Xscapers Olympics returned to the grounds on Wednesday night. Attendees formed teams with new and old friends alike and competed in a series of games including, human foosball, a 50-foot-long inflatable obstacle course, and a hilarious, human-sized version of hungry hippos, just to name a few. Excitement and laughter filled the air as teams worked together to get their hands on the bronze, silver, and gold dongles up for grabs. At the conclusion of the games, Xscapers own DJ Seanboy rolled into center camp on the Boom Bandits Rave Rover (imagine the bat mobile was turned into a rolling DJ booth, that is the Rave Rover). The booming bass lead Xscapers to the bon fire. DJ Seanboy spun tunes that had us all dancing like animals in a mix of glowing flames and pulsing lights from the stage.

Thursday came with the return of Mac & Cheese Madness—and madness it was! Competing Xscapers offered up their best mac and cheese recipes to be voted on by their fellow attendees. By the end of the event, there wasn’t a single drop of cheese left in the building. As the night advanced on, the Xscapers took part in a new Bash event, Lip Sync Battles. Hilarity ensued as members dressed up, danced and performed for the other attendees. Even club president and Xscapers Co-Founder, Travis Carr could be found swinging around on stage during an unforgettable rendition of “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus. The night ended with an open mic, allowing folks to continue putting on a great show for their new friends.

As the work week came to a close, the Xscapers kicked off the weekend on Friday afternoon, with a fun and engaging game of Trivia. As the evening progressed, attendees slipped on their dancing shoes and headed to the event tent for the ever-popular sounds of Xscapers house band, The Status Crowes. Chuck and Michelle had the group singing and dancing to songs we all know and love!

The sun shined brightly over the attendees on Saturday morning as we all gathered for a potluck brunch. As people enjoyed their meals, they were graced with the chill sounds of Arbour Season. This extremely talented musical duo are new additions to the Xscapers ranks and were an instant hit with the crowd. Saturday also brought a unique opportunity for Bash attendees, the premiere of season 2 of Gutted. Gutted is a reality competition show in which three teams compete to build out a unique RV, van and bus. Many of the Gutted cast were present for the event and participated in a Q&A session after the premiere.

Carrying on in Bash tradition, the last Saturday night means Neon Night. The Xscapers did not disappoint with their showing this year. The entirety of center camp was illuminated, not by the streetlights but by the glow coming off the costumes of those in attendance. The Lyte Brytes took the stage for the second year in a row and rocked us all with their light up garb and high energy music! As the bands time on stage ended, the Boom Bandits took over with an explosive DJ performance on the Rave Rocket. Xscapers could be found dancing late into the night and even took the party to the bonfire to keep the good times rolling into the morning hours.

Overall, it was another super successful Bash. Between morning yoga, pickleball, kickball games, team competitions, chill spaces, educational seminars, rig parties, daily board games, kids camp, mountain bike rides, community outreach opportunities (you get the picture)… there was truly something for everyone. During all this craziness, attendees also had numerous opportunities to help raise money and give back. Between the mail room, bar tips, morning coffee contributions and the silent auction, this year’s Bashers raised $7,685 for CARE!
